How the Indonesia visa process works
📋 Choose your category. Tell us your nationality, purpose of travel, planned entry date and how long you want to stay. Our travel advisor will compare short-stay and long-term options, confirm the documents and agree on the service fee before you apply.
📄 Prepare your documents. Send a clear scan of your passport, a photo and the documents for your chosen category. We will check names, dates and your address in Indonesia. Family and remote-work visas need extra supporting papers.
💻 Application and payment. Once everything is checked, we prepare the electronic application. For e-VOA, you can apply on the official website; other categories follow their own procedure. We agree on government fees and our services separately.
✅ Check your visa once issued. Make sure your passport number, name spelling, category and entry period are correct. Save the electronic document on your phone and in a separate folder. The immigration service makes the final decision.
✈️ Arriving in Bali. Have your passport, visa, address in Bali and onward ticket from Indonesia ready if it is required. Check the current arrival forms before you fly. After immigration control, confirm the permitted end date of your stay.
🛂 Monitor your stay and extensions. If you plan to stay longer, start preparing early. An extension requires a photo and an interview at an immigration office. Our team will explain the process and which office covers your place of residence.
Bali: airport and immigration offices
The map shows Ngurah Rai Airport and three immigration offices in Bali. We arrange the e-visa before you travel. The airport is your point of entry to Indonesia. To extend your stay, the office is chosen based on your address and the requirements of your category. You do not need to visit every marked location. Before any visit, your Big Travel travel advisor will confirm the appointment, the document list and the photo and interview process.

Documents for an Indonesia visa
🛂 Passport
For a tourist trip you need a passport valid for at least 6 months. The scan must be readable; requirements for long-term categories are checked separately.
📸 Photo
Prepare a recent colour photo with a clear image of your face. We will check the format and file size against the requirements of your chosen e-visa.
✈️ Ticket out of Indonesia
For a tourist entry, prepare a return ticket or a ticket to a third country. The departure date must match your permitted length of stay.
🏠 Accommodation address
Provide the address of your hotel, villa or other accommodation in Indonesia. Keep the booking confirmation and your host's contact details for the trip.
💳 Financial documents
Some categories require a bank statement. The period, balance and method of proving funds depend on the visa; we will clarify them before submission.
📄 Long-term visa
The E33G and other long-term categories require an additional set of documents. We will check the contract, income and other proof based on your chosen basis of stay.
👨👩👧 Family documents
When travelling with children, check separate passports and visas. A family residence permit requires documents proving kinship and, if needed, translations.
How to prepare for your trip to Bali
Do Russians need a visa?
Russians need a visa to visit Indonesia. For a short holiday, a VOA or e-VOA is suitable. For longer stays and living there, you will need a different visa type.
How to choose a visa type
Choose a Bali visa based on your purpose and length of stay: holiday, repeat trips, remote work or living there. A travel advisor will compare the options before you apply.
Which visa to choose: holiday, work or relocation
🛂 VOA / e-VOA
For a short holiday: 30 days of stay and one extension for another 30 days. Russians can get a visa on arrival or the electronic e-VOA. The extension is paid separately.
🌴 Tourist C1
For a longer holiday without repeat entries. The initial stay is up to 60 days. If the conditions are met, the total stay can reach 180 days. We check your documents before submission.
✈️ Multiple-entry D1
For repeat tourist trips. Each entry initially allows up to 60 days. The validity of a multiple-entry visa differs from the length of a single stay. We confirm extension conditions separately.
💻 E33G — remote work
For working for a foreign company: KITAS for up to 1 year, with requirements for your contract and income. Local employment and payments from Indonesian clients are not permitted on this visa.
🏡 Second Home
For long-term living based on financial requirements: E33 index, proof of funds and ITAS after the visa is issued. Suited to those planning to live in Bali for several years.
💼 Business visa C2
For meetings, negotiations and contracts: up to 60 days, extendable up to 180. You need a sponsor in Indonesia; you cannot work locally on a business visa.
🏢 Investor KITAS
For shareholders in a PT PMA company: E28A index, valid for 1 or 2 years. We check company, capital and investor share requirements in advance.
👨👩👧 Family KITAS
For moving to your spouse and for children: E31A, E31B and E31E indexes. We prepare marriage or birth certificates and translations before you apply.
Rules for stay and extensions
📅 Length of stay
Your stay is counted from your arrival date. Check the permitted end date, and arrange an extension early if you plan to stay longer.
🛂 Extend early
Extensions are not automatic. Prepare your documents and start the process before your permitted stay ends. Cost and steps depend on the visa category.
📸 Photo and interview
To extend your stay, you need a photo and interview at an immigration office. An online application does not replace the in-person visit; book the appointment and check documents in advance.
🚫 Local work
A tourist visa does not allow local employment. To work in Indonesia or do remote work, choose a suitable visa basis and check its conditions.

Frequently asked questions about Indonesia visas
Russian citizens need a visa for Indonesia, including for holidays in Bali. For a short tourist trip, you can apply for a VOA on arrival or an e-VOA before departure. The initial stay is 30 days, with one extension of another 30 days.
The right choice depends on your route and what suits you best. Before you buy a service, tell your travel advisor your citizenship, arrival date and length of holiday. We will check the conditions for your chosen category, your passport and your documents. For a longer stay or residence, a different visa applies. A tourist visa does not replace a permit to work locally.
The visa cost for Bali depends on the category and the services included. The government fee for a tourist VOA or e-VOA is 500,000 IDR. This is the fee for the initial visa. Support, extensions, bank charges and the Bali tourist levy are charged separately.
Long-term categories have different fees. The table shows an approximate cost for E33G processing of 10,500,000 IDR; your travel advisor will confirm the full package. Before you apply, you will receive a breakdown that separates government fees from Big Travel services. Tell us your dates, purpose of travel and number of applicants, and we will agree the cost for your situation.
For a tourist visa for Indonesia, prepare your passport, a photo and your travel details as required for your chosen category. For a tourist entry, your passport must be valid for at least six months. You will need an address of stay and a return ticket or onward ticket. We confirm the exact set of documents before you apply.
Send clear files with no cropped pages, and make sure your name matches your tickets. C1, D1 and long-term permits may require additional proof. Documents for Second Home or E33G should not be treated as an ordinary e-VOA. Your Big Travel travel advisor will provide a checklist for your visa and for each traveller.
VOA and e-VOA allow one extension of another 30 days. Start preparing before your permitted stay ends. Check the application process, documents, payment and the office for your place of residence. After the extension, the total stay under this tourist category can be up to 60 days.
From 29 May 2025, foreigners extending their stay must attend a photo and interview at an immigration office. An online application does not replace this in-person visit. If you arrange your extension through Big Travel, tell us your arrival date, category and accommodation address in advance. Your travel advisor will explain the steps and agree the support package. The extension is paid separately.
C1 is a tourist visa for a single entry. It initially allows a stay in Indonesia of up to 60 days. If you meet the requirements, the stay can be extended to a total of 180 days. This option suits a long holiday without frequent trips out of the country.
D1 is intended for repeated tourist entries. Each arrival initially gives up to 60 days of stay. The validity of a multiple-entry visa and the permitted length of stay are separate limits. Before you apply, tell your travel advisor your travel plan and how long each visit will be. We will confirm the category, extension conditions, documents and cost. Both visas must be used for tourism purposes only.
A tourist visa for Bali does not allow you to work locally or to be paid by Indonesian companies or clients. Your planned activities must match the category you choose. A long permitted stay does not by itself give permission to work.
If you need to carry out tasks for a foreign company, the E33G remote work visa may be suitable. It has separate requirements for the applicant and supporting documents. Before you apply, describe your employer, the type of work and how long you want to stay to our travel advisor. Big Travel will help check the visa basis and your documents. Tourist categories, E33G and Second Home are not interchangeable.
For a family trip, check the visa and passport of each child separately. A parent's visa does not automatically allow the other family members to enter. Choose the category based on citizenship, age, purpose of travel and planned length of stay.
Long-term family stays may require birth or marriage certificates, proof of the main applicant's status and translations. The exact list depends on the basis for entry, so family residence requirements cannot be automatically applied to a short tourist holiday. Tell your travel advisor the composition of your family and your travel dates. We will prepare a separate document list for each person and check that the visa plan is consistent for everyone.
An Indonesia visa has two different limits: the period in which you may enter, and the length of stay after arrival. Do not assume the visa's expiry date gives you permission to stay until then. Check the document you were issued and the permitted stay end date after you pass immigration control.
If your plans change, arrange an extension in advance or organise your departure. Overstaying can lead to fines and other immigration consequences. A paid ticket or a submitted application does not replace a valid permit. Keep your documents and set reminders for key dates. Your Big Travel travel advisor can help you understand visa deadlines and the next steps.
Applying for an Indonesia visa is best planned after you choose your travel dates and purpose. Allow time to check your passport, prepare a photo, gather supporting documents and handle any extra requests. Processing time depends on the visa category and how complete your documents are. The timeframe in this article is a guide and does not guarantee a set issue date.
Before you buy non-refundable tickets, talk to your travel advisor about the Bali visa for Russian citizens, your planned arrival and the length of stay you need. If your trip is urgent, tell us straight away so we can check your options and the right order of steps. To extend a visa you already hold, apply early, before your permitted stay ends.
A Bali e-visa follows the rules of the category you choose. Applying online does not remove the requirements for your passport, photo and supporting documents. For an e-VOA, you use the official Indonesian immigration service. If you apply through Big Travel, agree on the category, the cost and the steps our specialist will handle in advance.
Once your Indonesia visa is approved, check your name, passport number, dates and entry conditions. Save the document on your phone and in a backup folder, and print it if needed. An application or payment confirmation does not mean the visa has been issued. Before you fly, make sure the permit covers your trip and that each family member has their own document.
For business trips such as meetings, negotiations and signing contracts, the C2 business visa is suitable: up to 60 days, extendable to 180. You need a sponsor in Indonesia, and this visa does not allow you to work for an employer.
For living in Bali, people choose a KITAS based on their grounds: E33G for remote work for a foreign company, Second Home (E33) based on financial requirements, E28A for investors in a PT PMA company, and E31 for moving to a spouse or for children. Your Big Travel travel advisor will compare the options and help you find the basis that fits your situation.
PT PMA is an Indonesian company with foreign shareholding. First we check the business activity and KBLI codes, then we prepare the founding documents with a notary and register the company in the OSS system to obtain an NIB.
You need at least two shareholders. As a general rule, the capital is from 2.5 billion IDR, and an investment plan is usually over 10 billion IDR. In Bali, new permits are restricted for some business areas, so we check the KBLI and location before you rent an office. Once the company is open, a shareholder can apply for an E28A investor KITAS.
Yes, you need a SIM C licence for a scooter, and a SIM A for a car. They are issued by the Satpas Polresta Denpasar police station: a medical certificate, a psychological test, a computer test and a practical exam. The licence is printed the same day.
To apply, you need a long-stay visa or KITAS; a VOA is usually not accepted. Riding without a licence can bring a fine of up to 1,000,000 IDR, and riding without a helmet up to 250,000 IDR. Traffic in Bali drives on the left. Big Travel can help you prepare the documents and book a slot at Satpas.
