We got back yesterday from the two-day tour with an overnight stay at Elephant Bay hotel and the climb up Sigiriya (choose this rock for the climb). It was AMAZING!!!! WONDERFUL!!! The best tour!!! Our guide Denis (Dinesh) is a genius. He kept us laughing the whole way, told us the history of Sri Lanka, answered all our questions, shared lots of interesting facts and helped us with photos and videos! Every location on the tour was chosen very well, and everything felt heartfelt! Special thanks to our driver Shalinda, who drove us safely and with style! We'll have memories for a year, maybe for life! Over these two days it felt like we'd travelled for a week through different countries, with different climates, nature and architecture, all in one place on a small island, Sri Lanka.

We're delighted with the Heart of Sri Lanka tour! It was a beautifully organised trip. We saw an incredible number of sights and got a real feel for this amazing country. Special thanks for helping with the highlight of our trip: a proposal at the top of Sigiriya. Help choosing the perfect moment and place among one of the wonders of the world made the day truly unforgettable. A special part was the night at Mountain Heavens hotel. Waking up, stepping out onto the balcony and seeing elephants wandering below was wonderful! The thing that made the trip perfect was our guide Yasir, the soul of the tour. He told us about every sight with great charm, knew the best angles for photos and anticipated what we wanted. His care, attentiveness and great sense of humour created a truly friendly and comfortable atmosphere. We felt completely safe, as if we were travelling with an old friend. Thank you to Yasir and the whole team! We will definitely recommend you to our friends!

We're sharing our impressions on the way home from the lovely two-day Heart of Sri Lanka tour! The earlier reviews already say everything about the tour itself, so we'd like to describe what we experienced thanks to our guide Yasir and driver Usama. A few words about the journey: the car was comfortable and new, the air conditioning saved us the whole way, and despite the winding mountain roads, the driver followed every traffic rule, like a European driver. But we're especially grateful to Yasir. He helped us with every little question during the whole trip. He is a very caring and attentive person. When someone tried to push something expensive on us, he took us to another place where the same thing was cheaper. At the tea factory, we were offered only one type of tea for tasting. Yasir stood up for us, and in the end we got to try all the varieties. On the way, he showed us lots of cheap places where we could get tasty food and fruit. Yasir was also a very interesting person. For two days we chatted about the culture of his country and compared it with ours. His English is excellent, and he is a deeply knowledgeable, well-read man and a polyglot too. He even gets our memes! To our surprise, Yasir changed up our schedule. At the end of the second day we stopped at a village where we saw traditional village life and customs, and were treated to traditional food and sweets. We even got to crack a coconut 🥥 And I must say Yasir is a professional photographer. The photos in this message are his. We're now pulling up at our villa to rest after such a full and emotional programme. Many thanks to the organisers, Yasir, Usama and the local people of Sri Lanka!

We're thrilled with the one-day SAFARI YALA + ELLA tour! It was an incredible adventure that left us with lots of vivid memories. We especially want to mention our guide Ishar. He was simply brilliant! Ishar is a true professional. He speaks English fluently and has deep knowledge of Sri Lanka's history, culture and nature. Thanks to him, the tour was not just sightseeing but an exciting journey into the world of this amazing country. The safari in Yala National Park impressed me most of all. Four hours flew by in a moment! We saw a huge number of wild animals: majestic elephants, a leopard (it was truly incredible!), deer, buffalo, monkeys, crocodiles, monitor lizards and many beautiful birds. Ishar and the safari driver knew exactly where to find the most interesting spots and told us about the animals' habits, which made the safari even more thrilling. The Ravana Falls, Little Adam's Peak, the Nine Arches Bridge, the train ride and the tea plantation were all wonderful, but the Yala safari was the real highlight of the tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the real Sri Lanka and have unforgettable experiences. And be sure to ask for Ishar as your guide (by the way, he's from Belarus)! You won't regret it. Thank you for a wonderful day!

We've just got back from the Galle Fort + 🛶 River Safari tour! It was fantastic! I recommend it to everyone! Of course, a lot of the tour depends on the guide. Ours was beyond praise! His name is MANO. He speaks English really well, knows the history of Sri Lanka brilliantly, answers every question, makes subtle jokes at just the right moments and takes professional photos. In short, we're very happy with both the organisation of the tour and how it was run! Special thanks to the driver too! The tour itself is fire! 🔥🔥🔥 We loved absolutely everything!!! THANK YOU!

Hello! We chose the one-day Kandy tour. It was very interesting and full, and it was led by a professional English-speaking guide, Denish. Hello, I had an amazing 3-day tour in Sri Lanka, thanks to our fantastic tour guide and driver. Our tour guide Mr Deshan was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and caring. He did everything to make sure every part of the trip was enjoyable, informative, and perfectly organized. The driver Mr Jagath was equally wonderful, always punctual, professional, and made us feel comfortable throughout the journey. Together, they made this trip truly unforgettable. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. You'll be in great hands.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mirissa Tours and Day Trips

Where and when do the whale-watching boats leave?

From the Mirissa harbour, around 06:00–06:30. The boat spends 3–5 hours at sea. The tour costs $90 and includes hotel transfers, tickets, sandwiches and seasickness tablets.

When is whale season in Mirissa?

From November to April, when the ocean is calmer. Whales are wild animals, so we can't guarantee a sighting 100%, but during the season your chances are high.

How long is the drive from Mirissa to Galle?

About 35 km, 45–60 minutes by car. The Galle and River Safari tour ($70) includes hotel transfers.

Will you pick me up from my hotel in Mirissa?

Of course. The car picks you up from your hotel and brings you back. Our travel advisor will confirm the pickup time the evening before.

Can I visit Yala from Mirissa in one day?

Yes. From Mirissa, Yala is one of our shortest trips, about 3 hours away. The safari costs $90, and Ella and Yala in one day costs $125.

What are the prices for children?

Children aged 6–12 get 50% off. Children under 6 travel free.

What do you recommend for families with children?

The calmest option is Galle and River Safari: turtles, a boat ride and the fort, with no steep mountain roads. Kids love the baby elephants at Udawalawe, about 2.5 hours away. For whale watching, school-age children are best, as small children often get seasick on the waves.
